Joe Cook
Joe is responsible for the day-to-day operations and business development for J.S. Cook Advisors. J.S. Cook Advisors seeks real estate investments through joint ventures, acquisitions and investments in these projects. Prior to founding J.S. Cook Advisors, LLC, Joe was Vice-President of THF Realty, a real estate company that developed and owned in excess of 20 Million square feet of commercial property across the nation. He worked at the Company for over 12 years including a significant growth phase in the Company’s history and the financial crisis years of 2008 – 2010.
As Vice President, Joe led the finance department which was responsible for financing, economic feasibility, development support, development accounting, acquisitions and investment strategy. In additional to several key acquisitions, he led and negotiated more than 100 financing transactions for retail shopping centers totaling more than $1 Billion in loan volume.
Early in his career, Joe worked for CBIZ Business Solutions. At CBIZ, he performed valuations of closely-held businesses and limited partnership interests, including partnerships where real estate was the underlying asset. He also consulted on mergers and acquisitions.
Joe is a licensed Missouri real estate broker with J.S. Cook Advisors, LLC.
Joe is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he earned a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is a Past-President of the St. Charles Community College Foundation Board. Joe enjoys spending time with his family, helping coach his daughter’s volleyball team and is an avid outdoorsman. Joe travels to Canada every year to fish for a week in the Summer and in the Fall likes to spend time at his farm in Columbia, Missouri.
Sara Cook– Finance/Accounting/Asset Management
Since 2013 Sara has completed partnership accounting and special projects for J.S. Cook Advisors. Projects include distributions, bank reconciliations, investor communication, market research and acquisition due diligence. Additionally, Sara functions as an outsourced CFO for select growing companies in the St. Louis area.
Sara previously had an 11-year career at Citigroup in their residential mortgage business. Through roles in the Finance and Correspondent Lending Departments her responsibilities included monthly financial reporting, variance analysis and budgeting. She also managed a billing department with average billings of $1.3MM/month. Prior to Citigroup, Sara had 5 years’ experience preparing business valuations for reasons including mergers and acquisitions, investment analysis, gift tax and estate planning and general business planning.
In 1996, Sara earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Finance from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. While attending Washington University she also obtained a minor in Spanish. She continued her education by obtaining an MBA with an emphasis in Finance from Saint Louis University in 1998.
